I have been trying to upgrade my wife's computer to 8, she is resistant. I will wait for 10 now, she will love the price.:)

Emma, burning a CD from an .iso is really not a big deal. You probably have a program on your system that will burn the CD when you double click on the .iso.
Check in Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs\Set Associations which burning program you have. it is under iso.
I'd vote keep both 7 and 10![]()
I'll definitely get Windows 10 for my two newer rigs. Today I decided to install build 9879 in real hardware and I'm doing my daily tasks on it with no pain at all. Of course I still have Windows 8.1 if something goes wrong...
Among other softwares I'm using:
AutoCAD 2015 x64
CorelDRAW X7 x64
Office 2013 x64
Rocscience Pack
GeoStudio 2012
Nero Platinum 2015
Format Factory 3.5
Freemake Video Capture
K-lite Codec Pack 10.95
I think you are just polluting your system. Codec packs are terrible.
Souce: What Are Codec Packs and Should I Use Them?As you can see, it isn't as black-and-white as a lot of people make it out to be. We don't love the idea of codec packs, and as we said before, we don't recommend them to most users. But, we understand that there are a few situations in which you'll need them if you're unwilling to visit the alternatives. Hopefully this clears up some confusion
How do you play anything on Windows without them?
There have been articles recently trumpeting "native" MKV and FLAC support in W10.
This suggests that previous versions didn't support those formats.
I hate codecs (another triumph of the "Free Market").
At least things aren't as bad as a decade ago, when I had to have 6 different media players installed to be assured of being able to play most videos.
These days I have MPC-HC and VLC installed and they seem to be able to play all of the videos I've tried.
