Well, I am still undecided. But, I would like to upgrade because I like the Mail App, and the Windows Store Apps in Windows 10 and Windows 8.1. Plus, I don't want to lose the security of updates when the lifecycle of Windows 7 is up.

Exactly. And it all goes back to the question of why some people don't want to waste their Windows 7. :) Because there are no driver issues with 7 unlike 10.
Do you honestly mean you think that there are no driver problems in 7? Or that there are more in 10 than there were in 7? What about 8.x?

You do know drivers are not written by MS and as 10 is not released yet?

Some people are still on XP these days. Don't worry too much about security on 7.

    @ Jesse

So then you install 10 if you want when it comes out, but you don`t ruin your 7 or 8.1 setup and license now on a test system.

7 will be supported for a long time to come.

I suggest you leave it until October or November when Windows 10 is released. Then you can come back to this forum, have a look around, and decide what is the best for you.

Exactly, just keep what you have, stop worrying over whether or not to install windows 10 , put it on another drive or in a VM.

A preview is just that, a preview.

    Are you asking me?
Do I sound that ignorant to you?

I know drivers are written by 3rd party manufacturers. That's why I can't rely on 10 because manufacturers are still in the dark and that is why I am keeping 7.My rig on my sig below runs mainly on 7 but I also have win 10 preview running on separate SSD.
I stated the driver issue as just one reason I am keeping my 7. There are other factors to consider.

I will get Win 10 when it is released. But it will only replace my Win 8 PCs.

On my Laptop which is AMD/AMD dual graphics, Windows 10 downloaded the AMD drivers automatically. My screen flashed a couple of times and then it was all good. On my desktop which has an NVidia GT 640, I had to manually install the latest drivers for my card, version 347.25. No issues yet with those. I only just installed it on my desktop PC. With the stock Windows drivers I could no use all 3 of my monitors on my desktop PC.

I'm dual booting with 8.1. On the first reboot after plugging the 8.1 drive back in I got a "repairing volume message". Something like that, I've forgotten the exact wording already. I'm just about to reboot into 10 and see whats up.

While I will keep reading here, I think I'm going to stay with 8.1 until at least the actual release of W10.

I put this latest release on my Yoga 2 Pro and wasn't very pleased with the results though I had no actual problems. The overly large 'start menu' is a big turnoff and seem to me to be a step in the wrong direction. And though I've read the hack to get back the smaller one, it is just that, a hack that may or may not work going forward.

Right now it is more I'm not ready, but I'm sure that I'll end up with the latest when it is released unless they really do something boneheaded with it! :)

IE has stopped working completely. I tried to open Ten Forums and got a IE has stopped responding. Then it did it on any page I tried to open, totally useless now. I tried to reboot into 8.1 and BIOS default had been changed to the Windows 10 drive. It blue screened rebooted and blue screened again. I powered down and forced a reboot into 8.1. I'm done with this on this PC. That drive will be wiped very shortly.
