Free upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows Phone 8.1 during first year of Windows 10 release.

    Attachment 10565
And what about Windows 8 ?
Install 8.1 for free, then update

Windows 8.1 - Update to from Windows 8
My PC is stuck on Windows 8 - for some reason it cannot be upgraded to Windows 8.1. I will try a clean install of Windows 10 TP
When Windows 10 RTM gets released, you could clean install 8.1 using an ISO from OPTION ONE below, then update for free to the Windows 10 RTM.

Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 ISO - Download or Create
The problem is that it neither can be upgraded nor clean install - after the first restart a BSOD appears and it reverts back to Windows 8 error code 0x101-0x20017. Thanks for the tips anyway!

One time fee or subscription ?
That is EXACTLY the question. I'd give a gold star for it if I could.
