I feel like I had a mole of a trojan uploaded to my PC. First of all, the start menu button is DEAD. There is no start menu. It's dead from the keyboard too. I need to find the "settings" tab in it in order to roll-back to 8.1, which at least worked, but I can't find any link to "settings."
On top of all of it, things app-up, then freeze, then task manager freaking freezes, so I can't even force-quit. I have to force power off to reboot and begin again.
Remember how bad ME was reputed to be? Multiply the worst of that (I personally liked ME) and you don't even begin to venture into the realm of my disappointment with 10. Here is the link I received in this forum to help roll back to a previous version of Windows -- which, like I said, doesn't help me, since I can't get to the start menu.
So angry right now. I recommend NOT being a beta-test sucker with 10. Like mama always said, no such thing as a free lunch.

My thoughts on Windows 10, I love it. It is quick, responsive, and very versatile. Everything works perfect.
So, Rocky, you're one of the ones who have a working start menu, I take it? Unfortunately, not everyone is so lucky. This version is like playing Russian Roulette. It you are lucky and get a functional copy, great, I'd bet it's great. But, if not, like me, you may as well be typing on a mushy avocado. I'll never sign up as a lab rat for a beta version of anything again.
CAREFULLY weigh the pro's and cons of suckering into Win10. If 8 works for you, my advice: don't chance it. If it ain't broke, don't try fixing it.
OK, as far as the start menu button not working, I'm not the only one with the problem. From MS community forum:
Windows 10 build 10061 - no start menu unable to open settings - Microsoft Community
When they started the insider program they told everyone there were going to be things that went wrong and parts that didn't work. They even said if you couldn't deal with that, don't do it. Well, guess what. They didn't lie to you. There are problems. They didn't lie. If you can't handle it, you should not have joined. For the overwhelming majority of people, everything has gone reasonably well. Some had a few aggravating problems which were eventually fixed. They never told you they were giving you something for free. It is no different than any other beta testing program. They give you the software to test so you will tell them what needs to be fixed. I'm a beta tester for several places and it works that way with every one of them. Read the warnings before you sign up. It works quite well for 95% of the people. Because you are one of the 5% who it doesn't work for is no reason to recommend not even trying it.
Some things I like some things I don't like. The hybrid Start Screen/ Start Menu/All Apps Menu I don't like. It's usable so I'll live with it. I much prefer the windows 8.1 start Screen/All Apps Screen. I do like that Modern Apps now remember what screen they were last opened on, and open where they were left when launched. I run triple monitors on my desktop. launching an app and then having to move it to my other monitor every time was a pita. Anybody else notice there is no Desktop tile now? Or is it just me?
The only issue I have found is third party drivers and then only one of 75 programs installed. That program is Logitech F710 wireless controller. This upgrade appears to have brought along all files, folders etc. in good working order. Completed installation from Microsoft Media Creation Tool for Win 10 on the (late) evening on July 29, 2015 the first time around. Of course in the steep learning curve phase now.
FYI. A service pack is coming in mid August 2015.
