I change motherboards every 4-6 months - which version of 10 Pro ?

I change out my motherboard every 4-6 months through partial system upgrades - I know my original 'free' 10 Pro won't survive the trip because of the change in the board.

What version of 10 Pro do I need to purchase so my 10 key will be able to be activated when I move from one board to another? OEM? Full retail? I ask as I want to make the right decision the first time.

    thanks.

You need full retail. OEM is stuck with the first board where it was installed.

Now, if you have a retail version of Windows 7 or Windows 8, you can write a letter to Microsoft and point out to them that their EULA that comes with the Windows 10 upgrade states that a retail version of Windows 7 or 8 is supposed to upgrade to a retail version of Windows 10 and you would therefore like them to provide you with a retail Windows 10 license and they just might provide you with a Windows 10 retail product key.

It's in paragraph 4.b of the Windows 10 EULA.
