    Hi,

I need the site to download athe file for Win 10 Pro x 64 as .WIM
Keep in mind that both MCT and Tech bench will download as .ISO file. The former contains install.esd (which I assume you do NOT want) , the latter contains install.wim (which I take is what you're after.

    Cheers,

    Hi,

    >>When the image is downloaded I just right click on it with the disc inserted and click burn to disc and verify - I do not mount -is this correct?

Yes, "burn image" is what you'll see in the menu.

I did this twice and got two results so I'll try a third time. I understand when sources is expanded, install.WIM should be there.

As long as you download from Tech Bench (link in post # 31), yes. From Media Creation Tool, you'll get install.esd.

I wanted to get an ISO with .WIM and just did. I downloaded from tech bench and when I expanded 'sources' it said, install .WIM.

This way, as opposed to .ESD I can utilize the nest DISM command when SFC and the standard DISM Health fail.

Right, so now you can mount the iso and point to the drive it's mounted as with the /source parameter when using DISM.

Are you saying that simple unzipping of ISO image to a USB thumbdrive will produce a bootable USB thumbdrive???
Yes Topgundcp was, he has told me that a few times in the past. Its just that simple.

    >>I thought just downloading the file and burning it to DVD was all I had to do to create the bootable DVD to install and repair Win 10.

I do not understand about mounting except it is done to use a file.

Have I missed something in creating my DVD?
