    Hi,

OK, no takers on the time to connect, the three copies of My Documents
Just an idea. Can you check the properties of those files and the location ? I think I suggested that already yesterday but still.
I had multiple copies of those files but only for a short while whilst changing their storage path to point to my D:\ partition.
Now, that aspect has returned to normal.

Also, here's a screenshot of Explorer with a USB thumb drive inserted. Note the two identical drive letters and it automatically expands the one to the far left.
Autoplay however is completely turned off.

    Anyone else has this ?

    Cheers,

Interesting in that if I ask for the properties of either of the two "bonus" copies, i.e. the ones I haven't expanded, the properties both go to the same pop-up (which I had shifted to the right to make sure since Properties always tries to overlay the same location). The one which is expanded does not overlay that copy. It is repeatable with the "bonus" copies always jumping to the right image, the open one always overlaying the left one. The properties are identical and correct for that directory in both lists.

And like your experience, the problem comes and goes. Kind of a luck-of-the-draw thing.

    Hi,

Could you just copy the contents of your "Documents" folder to a temporary folder on say, your network drive and then take ownership of the "bonus" folders and try to delete them ?

    Cheers,
They live on a network drive now. Actually, they just seem to be "echoes" or "ghosts" of the "real" one. And if I close File Explorer, usually they go away, sometimes they come back with the number of copies being variable. Very strange behavior. And all three of my computers have the same kind of now-you-see-them, now-you-don't behavior. I am surprised no one else is reporting it, but from all the trouble W10 has given me I am starting to believe my download came with a resident poltergeist.

I actually agree! File explorer is a convoluted mess now... the main search tree is so incredibly busy it hurts my 7 remaining brain cells. I'm trying to figure out how to minimize the view so I can actually find stuff. The redundancy is insane, and the Onedrive stuff makes me nuts, as it works somewhat backwards compared to how it used to work...

Since Microsoft is getting rid of Onedrive for most people might be a good time to remove it. Don't have a link but am sure I saw a 'how-to' here not too long ago. Always good to get rid of a headache, even a small one.

    Hi,

Don't have a link but am sure I saw a 'how-to' here not too long ago.
Haven't tested it yet but from command line admin run the following :

    @echo off
    cls

    set x86="%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\OneDriveSetup.exe"
    set x64="%SYSTEMROOT%\SysWOW64\OneDriveSetup.exe"

    echo Closing OneDrive process.
    echo.
    taskkill /f /im OneDrive.exe > NUL 2>&1
    ping 127.0.0.1 -n 5 > NUL 2>&1

    echo Uninstalling OneDrive.
    echo.
    if exist %x64% (
    %x64% /uninstall
    ) else (
    %x86% /uninstall
    )
    ping 127.0.0.1 -n 10 > NUL 2>&1

    echo Removing OneDrive leftovers.
    echo.
    rd "%USERPROFILE%\OneDrive" /Q /S > NUL 2>&1
    rd "C:\OneDriveTemp" /Q /S > NUL 2>&1
    rd "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\OneDrive" /Q /S > NUL 2>&1
    rd "%PROGRAMDATA%\Microsoft OneDrive" /Q /S > NUL 2>&1

echo Removing OneDrive from the Explorer Side Panel.
    echo.
    REG DELETE "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{018D5C66-4533-4307-9B53-224DE2ED1FE6}" /f > NUL 2>&1
    REG DELETE "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{018D5C66-4533-4307-9B53-224DE2ED1FE6}" /f > NUL 2>&1

    pause
Or copy/paste all the text in quotes and save to a text file, rename the .txt to .bat and run the script as admin.

I'll test it in a minute or two and report back if it doesn't work.

    Thks to Melerix.

It does work fine but I'd add "exit" (without " ") at the bottom of the script just under pause so the box closes itself.

    Cheers,

Still no joy on this, several W10 updates later. I still have multiple copies of My Documents showing up, and for long periods of time (minutes, not seconds) they will not expand beyond the top level.

How can something that ran for 25 or 30 years get so screwed up? And why hasn't anyone done anything to fix it? Oh, right, too busy adding new features. That's where all the glory is.

At least I don't have to learn Japanese or whatever language someone was using to add directories to my computer.

(Yeah, I know, infinite loop if you are not careful.)

Five this time. (I know I can remove My Documents from the list entirely and use the direct link to my network. But I shouldn't have to.)
