Windows 10: Windows 7.1 to Windows 10 Upgrade Successful - Some Good News
Windows 7 SP1 to Windows 10 Upgrade Successful - Some Good News
I just wanted to post some good news that might be encouraging to others. I have been in the insiders program with my custom built test system since the beginning and have watched Windows become more and more stable over time.
I build of all of my PCs myself and consider myself as a Windows PC hardware and software advanced user. The day before yesterday, I clicked on the upgrade button... dreading what might happen to my main cherished desktop windows 7 system. Even if I got through the upgrade process, I was assuming I would be having to deal with lots of things that didn't work right. Much to my surprise, the upgrade process completed without a hitch and everything is working fine. Since the Windows PC world is a hobby for me as well as providing my desktop tool... as absurd as it sounds... I am a little let down that I have nothing much to do except go through all Windows 10's settings and other such setup chores.
So the take away is, for at least some of us, Microsoft delivered on the promise. Do all the the backups and other smart things before you upgrade... but there is a decent chance that it will go smoothly for you.

Yes, luckily the upgrade process went smoothly on my end also. All the programs and settings were intact, all the drivers still working. It is very easy to do an upgrade, so hopefully many less experienced users can also upgrade their operating system without a hitch.
Exactly what is Windows 7.1? I have never heard of it.
I believe he meant to say Windows 7 SP1.
SP1 is correct. But I have noticed that some folks have been using 7.1 as a shorthand.

Originally, I had Windows 8.1 pro installed in my PC having all the system/program files in my 'C' (SSD) drive and the 'Users' folder in 'D' (HDD) drive (as I had voluntarily moved it). As I had registered with Microsoft for Windows 10 upgrade, it...
Well I decided to post how my Windows 10 upgrade went because I felt like I was among the group that was left out from getting anywhere with the upgrade lol.
First of all I was like many here who had Windows 10 reserved on this PC but never...
I hope many of you have noticed still how inconsistent the UI is within Windows 10. Menu buttons are different in nearly every screen. Settings and Control Panel are using completely different UI, and 'all apps' in the start menu is still not very...
Mega good news for SAP users - SAP GUI 7.40 runs just fine in Windows 10 build 10240 -- I couldn't get SAP GUI to work with Windows 8 / 8.1 at all. The GUI worked but Logon failed. Now LOGON works just fine wherever the SAP DB /...
