need to be owned by "Administrators" in order to make the changes in the security tab of runtime broker
just be sure you change back to default owner "NT SERVICE\TrustedInstaller" before reboot
Firstly, unfortunately, no. Changing ownership to 'Administrators' is not sufficient to make "Launch and Activation" permissions editable.
I just tried what lx07 suggested here: Error 10016 - Windows 10 Forums, i.e. I changed owner to my specific administrator account 'Admin' (not to the general 'Administrators' group) and also explicitly granted full control permissions to 'Admin' account.
After that "Launch and Activation" became editable.
Secondly, I don't understand why you keep quoting 'HKEYLocalMachine\Appid\...'. There's no such key in Windows registry.
It is a pretty common problem. I have 7 machines in our house that were all upgraded, as well as clean reinstalled, and these problems persist. I've actually solved it (at least it appears so) by using the procedure GLHS posted above. Its a little tricky, there are several accounts of the procedure across various forums, but it does work.
Andrey T's suggestions got me farther, but when I clicked on "Edit", I got a warning that another forum said ruined his computer - see SECOND screenshot and http://www.clintpriest.com/2015/11/f...on-with-clsid/.
When I clicked Cancel (not the deadly Remove), I did not get Andrey's options but got only the FIRST screenshot (more stuff greyed out). What to do?
I see that this post is over 500 days old, but I'm having the same issue, but with a twist that I'm not sure is related. Would this error result in the TOTAL inability to install Programs and Features and Windows updates allowing ONLY apps from the app store to be installed? This is all happening in Server 2012R2 Hyper-v with an image that does NOT produce these problems in a physical host, nor in Hyper-v for Windows 10. I'm gathering information in prep for posting a new thread, I just need to know if the problems are/could be related so I know where best to post it. Thank you for your time.
