Win10 on HP Mini 311 netbook, success!
Writing this mostly for people searching mini311 Win10 on Google
I have an HP Mini 311, 11.6" netbook with an Atom N270, ION, 3G RAM. I use it mostly with Linux (Mint Xfce) but decided to install Windows on a partition.
I first installed my copy of Win7, upgraded to win10, used the MS tool to save on a USB stick, wipe the partition and re-install Win10 from scratch. It is Windows 1511 version, after the install I discovered I could have installed with my win7 key instead of upgrade
It works pretty well, it detected about everything and installed (sometimes default) drivers, but it is fully functionnal and speed is ok.
I looked for latest driver anyway and found what is working with the netbook, in case you came here for that!
For Alps touchpad, take sp72284.exe from HP, extract, then from device manager, select the PS2 mouse, driver, update driver, browse, let me pick, have disk, and point to the location of the unpacked driver in Vi32
For IDT Audio HD, take sp71886.exe from HP, extract, from the device manager, select the HD audio, driver update, browse, select the location you unpacked your driver.
For 5in1 card reader, install the latest Realtek driver (I have RtsXStor_10.0.370.101) from realtek website
For Nvidia SATA and Nvidia SMU, install the Nvidia 15.58 nForce drivers.
For Nvidia ION, install the latest Nvidia driver (I have 341.92), do not install GeForce Experience you do not need this on the netbook.
I replaced my wifi BG card with an ATHEROS AR9382 ABGN dual band, and windows installed latest drivers already. My Broadcom bluetooth internal BCM92070MD works fine too.
All in all I like it
