    i actually like the new start menu better than 8.1, but i do not like the idea of having to dig into windows explorer to make a shortcut to the dekstop, that should be added as an option in the start menu when you right click. Now you only have the option when right click to pin to the taskbar or startup
    Why would you want to have a shortcut on the desktop anyway. The only shortcut I keep for any length of time is the Recycle Bin.

    My old habit is that I do not want anything on my desktop except the picture I put there. I boot directly to a clean desktop. :)

    I have worked on PCs that have so many icons (many of them duplicates) that I don't know how the owner can find anything!

    My desktop is my workspace more often than not, I couldn't stand to have clutter and images behind my work.

    I have to go along with the very clean desktop. Right now the only shortcut is for a Python tool, Page, but that's the only way I can start it up. And I have a calendar, and other small things but it's not a cluttered look.

    In Windows 8.1 on desktop, I don't get the App Switcher when swiping in from the left, I get each app sliding into view one by one;
    in Windows 10 I get the 'App Chooser'.
    swipe from the left until the first app starts appearing, then move your thumb back towards the edge

    should give a list of open store app down the left hand side, just swiping from the left on its own switches back to the last used app

    I'm with you Robin. I like having program shortcuts on the desktop for quick access. The only time I see the desktop is when I first boot up my PC and when I close one app to open another. So the clutter of a few icons doesn't bother me in the least.

    I used to have them as well... then I moved them to the task bar. But now I have them on the new start menu and I'm happy with the way I have my PC set up.
