    Solved!

No. My boot is "fast" but these problems still happen:

    1. Asrock Logo (bios in ultra fast) + dots circling (9 sec)
    2. Blank Black Screen (1s)
    3. Dots circling (2 sec)
    4. Login screen (5 sec)

In Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 Build 10240, on the same machine, has no step 3.
Obs.: WIndows 10 Anniversary clean install.

Well, After nearly a year, i finally figured out the cause (had the same exact problem):

    Microsoft's Generic USB F******* Drivers!!

    Now onto the solution.

Open Device Manager & Goto "Universal Serial Bus Controllers". There you'll probably find the culprit : "Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.0 (Microsoft)". That is Microsoft Generic USB driver along with the "Hub Driver" and "Switch Driver (if you have one)".

Now all you have to do is update those drivers using most up-to-date usb drivers according to your manufacturer (probably the Intel one's if you are on laptop like me). Check Hardware ID's just to be sure.

You can find most up-to-date drivers on win-raid site along with instructions as well if you want to install those manually.

Note: Read instructions carefully before updating USB Drivers manually.

Do check for "switch driver" aka "PCI Express Root Complex" under "System Devices" in Device Manager. Before, I had always installed the latest USB drivers but always forgot to update "PCI Express Root Complex".

Updating all "Controller", "Hub Driver" &"PCI Express Root Complex" together solved it for me.

You'll still probably see the dots spinning (i do) but for a split second only.

    Enjoy !

The dots never show for me anymore after the Anniversary Update, except only after installing Windows Updates. But yes, problem solved :)

Hello, I finally (think) solved my slow login issue (3 to 5 minutes waiting). Boot time was thunder fast though (I've got an SSD)
    • I don't have USB 3.0
    • I disabled Cortana without improving login time
    • This issue appeared with the Anniversary Update

Next thing, I disabled Windows Defender, and then computer started login in faster (3-4 secs instead of 3-4 mins) but disabling Windows Defender is not permanent and it auto-reactivates.

Then I disabled all of the Windows Defender options (but the Real Time Protection), and since then, I didn't have this issue anymore.

    Hope it helps.

    Hi,
I have tried all the mentioned
    • disable Windows Defender
    • disable IP6
    • try local account / outlook account

but still it takes several minutes during logon to Windows 10. However I figured out two things, which could be important

    1. If I deactivate the network adapters, so that no network connection is established before logon, then the logon is very quick
    2. I am using the automatic login (netplwiz), so no password entry is required for login. If I disable this and let the user enter the password manually, again the logon procedure is very quick.

The issue is that I am using the Intel NUC with Windows 10 as htpc. So I keep the network adapters enabled as well as automatic login. As a result the login is very quick.
Before I was using Windows 8.1 with the same configuration and it was not that slow.

So anyone any idea how can I fix this issue (slow login)?
    Thanx
    Teo

THX MAN this solved my issue with minutes of waiting in the sign-in / log-in screen of windows 10!!!!!!
turned everything off (except realtime protection) maybe it has to do with this cloud sending and informations sending to microsoft.

    thank you !!!

Joined just to say this also solved my problem. Post-Anniversary update, used to be 1-2 seconds at the Welcome screen (after entering my password).

After the update, I was waiting anywhere from 5 or 10 minutes up to several hours to login.

Windows Defender -> Settings -> Turn off Cloud-based Protection and Automatic Sample Submission

After that, we were back in business, restarted several times to confirm. Thanks everyone!
