Thanks, I just tried it and it might come in handy. I didn't know it was an option. I have to lengthen this reply by 3 characters, so I'll just say it still doesn't offer a split screen - I know I can open two instances of it, but that involves too much fiddling. I wonder who Microsoft listens to when it brings out a new product or and update? The old Windows used to have a file manager where you could split the screen. I guess they decided we didn't need that anymore. Grumble, grumble. But thanks again though.

With File Explorer pinned to the taskbar, Right-clicking on it will show a 'Recent' list of folders, provided you have turned on 'Show "Frequently used folders" in Quick Access'. You can click on one to open File Explorer at that folder. You can right-click on one to 'pin it to this list'.

Most of the third-party file managers can/do open with 2 panels either free or paid versions, can show different Folders from each other. Then there is the free Q-DIR that opens 4 panels in the same window. I don't fully understand your "split screen", maybe it's opening 2 instances then on the right-click of the Taskbar choose stacked or side by side.

OK but that does not help when downloading files using "save as"

    XYplorer certainly does.
Sorry... XYplorer does not do that. I bought it for that exact reason. Because you guys on here said that it would. Contacted their support and they confirmed that it will not do that.
