Is it worth me the upgrade from 7 to 10 in the first place?

I want to gather here pros and cons. Sorry, I searched the forum for a similar thread, but couldn't find it. My only interest is in comparing Home versions here. I see no benefit for myself in Pro - for BitLocker I'd use a free (as in free software) alternative -, though Enterprise would be cool, for the LiveUSB, but that's unfortunately out of reach for many.

    Possible pros:
    - Maybe(?) improved battery life on laptops? Though, I am near AC more than 90% of the time.
    - Maybe 10 detects and supports a wide variety of hardware, adds Windows drivers which just work, so I don't have to hunt on the PC manufacturer's site for drivers? I don't know, friend told me, I wan not able to cross check it with a web search.

    Big con for me:
    - The privacy issue (which I care about) I might still be optimistic if either Microsoft comes to its senses before 2020 - the date when 7 support ends, as 10 market share is still pretty low -, or we will have one single, easy to apply set of rules for Windows 10 privacy trusted by the broad Internet community as a whole (now as I searched the web there are many opinions, and it's a big hassle to apply every setting)

Anyways, looking into the future, we will use more and more embedded devices such as tablets and smartphones, as Steve Jobs famously put it, PC's will be like tractors, they will still be around, but not many will use them (interview from the time the original iPad came out). So, 7 could be very well my last Windows PC OS (Mac and Linux are other things, and even if you turned off something, Microsoft will turn it on after a while, just because).

No problems with 10 for what my wife is using it, along with Office 2010.

Not everyone wants to go out and pay $1400 for a MacBook. Which most previous Windows users just install Windows on it, never to touch OS-X.

I use Linux Mint on both of my machines, because it is my personal favorite.

If 10 is installed properly. There are Zero issues with it.

    Not much.

I mean, I asked a totally legit question here (I guess) and all I got was bro67's assumptions (not facts).

I wonder if anyone here can come up with anything better? I truly appreciate you, folks!

I generally am a mac user. need to use windows for weather radar programs. I bought my dell e6410 laptop with win 7 on it. the night I got it I downloaded and installed win 10 pro. I have to say I love windows 10. not one crash at all and Microsoft edge seems to be far better than any IE.

when I did the download I was expecting the worst....kinda expected a vista type os. when it booted into win 10 pro I was extremely impressed with the new windows 10 especially since I stayed away from Microsoft and windows as much as possible after vista. so far win 10 seems as stable as my apple

I have Win7 and 2 Win10 computers on my Network plus a Linux Mint 17 and a Mac OS X El Capitan Notebook. Win7 has a couple of programs not yet ready for Win10.

As for going to Win10, a lot depends upon what the computer is and whether it will support Win10, I've put it on more than a couple of 6-8 year old computers without issue. I couldn't get it on one computer because of the onboard video adapter, opted to sell the computer with Win7 instead.
