Machine spontaneously DOWNGRADED to Windows 10 Pro Insider Bld 10565

I have an Acer 5820-T with Intel 5i cpu. I upgraded to Windows 10 several weeks ago from 8.1. Last Sunday morning when I opened the lid on my machine, it went through the final stages of an upgrade (not an update). I had left the machine on with the lid closed and it ran this downgrade automatically. Also "Check for updates" says my machine is up to date.

This seems like extremely unusual behavior. I can't possibly be the only one. What would cause this?

What is the solution? I am not able to perform recovery.

I don't understand what you mean by downgrade. 10565 is the latest insider build. Do you want to get to the non insider (RTM) build?
If you had upgraded from 8.1 to windows 10 and then joined the insider program you are now where you should be. Build 10565 was just released on Oct 12. Your computer will automatically schedule a time to install updates or upgrades, which is probably what happened.

No. What I mean it that my machine spontaneously did its own downgrade from Windows 10 released version to Build 10565.

Windows released version (RTM) is build 10240. In order to get an insider build you would normally had to click on the "get started" button and follow the directions. Did you want to be in the insider program? Or are you wanting to get out and back to the RTM build?

I don't think you are understanding what I am trying to say. I just want to have my full Windows 10 release back. But the Update function says my machine is up to date.

Settings - Update & Security - Recovery - Go Back to an Earlier Build. After you roll back, then go to Advanced Options under Windows Update and select to Stop getting insider builds.

Yeah, I tried that but I don't have the files necessary to go back.

If you are in the insider program, you will need to leave the insider program to go back to the RTM build. It cam be found in Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update>Advanced Options. Click the "stop insider preview" button and follow the prompts. You might have to reinstall the RTM build Here is the tutorial for creating the ISO. https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/9...-download.html .

If the OS downgraded, then that means that Microsoft found an issue and forced it to revert back to the previous edition.

What does it show for running version, when you open a Command window and enter without quotes "ver". Post the text that you get.
