Does Windows 10 have the flyout Tablet PC Input Panel?

I've gotten used to using handwriting with a Wacom tablet and Win 7 "Tablet PC Input Panel" that is parked on the side of the screen. I just got a new laptop with Win 8.1 and Tablet PC Input Panel doesn't seem to exist.

Does anybody know if the flyout Tablet PC Input Panel is in Windows 10?

Hello Shokan, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

I'm afraid the Touch Keyboard (tabtip.exe) replaced the Tablet PC Input Panel since Windows 8.

Maybe Wacom will issue something similar to Tablet PC Input Panel... but, I doubt it. I am rolling back to Windows 7. Goodbye 8.1and 10. A possible alternative is voice recognition but I know nothing about that and whether it is applicable for easy text insertion into email text, Notepad, etc..

No, I use an active stylus with an external Wacom graphics tablet and anyway the screen is not touch or pen enabled. I'm going back to Windows 7. Microsoft let me down. I have to say also, I find Windows 8.1 to be not so good. There are a few thingsthat are not intuitive and/or missing compared to v7.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but wouldn't your anger be pointed at Wacom instead? Nothing everything is going to be intuitive, as that is the normal case, but that doesn't mean they are bad.

Not angry, just disappointed. Love Windows but I think it only goes as far as v7.

I realize if you use an obscure feature that is later removed, you'll be unhappy, but the improvements in Windows 10 justify staying current. Every time there's a new release, people complain about changes. If nothing ever changed, we'd be using old technology and the OS would become so bloated and sluggish trying to accommodate everyone's wishes.

Handwriting Recognition in v7 was probably the best feature of the OS for me, besides it being just a really good general OS experience. I have looked into Win 10 and there isn't anything innovative enough in it that would make me want it. Not at all, as a matter of fact. I'm sure I'll probably come around to feel differently some day. All I do is browse, email and have no other devices besides a laptop.

Based on the article, I am holding out hope.

Early preview of new Handwriting Recognition Interface for Windows 10 tablets - Tablet PC Reviews News for Australia

    Quote from page:

"However, we are interested in the changes to the handwriting panel because many Windows 7 handwriting users felt that the move to Windows 8 was a big step backward. Sure the Touch Keyboard in Win 8 was vastly better than the Win 7 equivalent. But the floating yellow handwriting input panel in Windows 7 offered a lot more flexibility."

A lot of people like myself used "Tablet PC Input Panel" all the time and it is sorely missed by many. People in the graphics field, by and large, do not use a mouse. Wacom tablets are the standard pointing device. Once used to the v7 handwriting recogntition, it is VERY difficult to do the antiquated keyboard and mouse thing.

Win 7 Handwriting Recognition was a resource hog as far as I know. I am looking into voice recognition as an alternative solution, but not MS voice recogntiion.. I want to throw my keyboard out the window for good.
