Need some assistance with missing functions

After a month or so of using Windows 10 I noticed several functions were no longer working. I reinstalled it last night. It took forever and the functions were still not working. Tonight I contact live chat support and was on with them from 7:30 pm to 11:30. First rep stated that I had lost my free installation. Then we got disconnected. Contacted them again and guy tried to help me but then we got disconnected. Finally got someone that told me my windows 10 account was activated after she remotely checked my computer. However she said she could not tell me why some functions were no longer working. My issues are:

    Cannot find settings
    Cortana does not work
    Search does not work
    Lost Edge
    Lost applications
Could not log into my MSN without going through Foxfire

Anybody have any ideas. Seems like my start menu is not working completely.

    Hi mama1050,

    Welcome to the 10forums.

Have you tried checking your system files?
    Please do the following:
    • Open an admin command prompt
    • Copy/paste "sfc/scannow" (without quotes) and press enter
    • When it finished reboot your system
    • Open again an admin command prompt
    • Enter sfc/scannow again

If sfc/scannow does NOT say "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violation", please upload the cbs.log file located at {windows partition}\Windows\Logs\CBS\, if the file is too large try a 3rd party uploader like dropbox, onedrive, google drive, mediafire etc.
System File Check(SFC a.k.a. Windows Resource Protection) needs to have your system rebooted in order for sfc to try to fix the problems that it finds.

Not needed with System File Checker, you can type it in one line:
    Code:
    sfc/scannow

axe0: I don't even know how to get to the admin command prompt. I am not very computer savy. Can you tell me where it is?

In the search function, search "command prompt" (without quotes).
When you see command prompt in the results, right click on the command prompt and click "Run as administrator", if prompted click yes / allow.
