    Hi
topgundcp. No chipset drivers on MB disc only LAN Audio USB3 and AMD all in 1. The latter includes SM BUS and SATA 3. The board was manufactured 12 months ago. I have installed LAN and USB# only. Thanks for your help. As i said previous the shutdown prob i was having is now just a flash on the screen of a error box. Unable to read it due to the speed of it. Just noticed my writing has changed.

    @noelbeth
    Just another thought.
Can you look in Event Viewer to see if there are any errors or warnings at the time you are shutting down ?
Maybe something in there will help find the cause of the error ???

    Thanks
DavidE. There was nothing listed at shutdown times. There are several that happened at other times. You will have to forgive me as my knowledge of event viewer is minimal, i should say none. I have noticed though there has been nothing in the last 24 hrs, maybe an update rectified it. To me it seems as though i have a PC problem as there has only been a couple of other posts with this error. I might add it runs spot on with 8.1. I appreciate your help btw.

There was an error on shutdown that at times froze the PC and i had to hit the off button. Then the USB ports started playing up, sometimes printers would work, other times not. I guess the real reason i went back to 8.1 was to be certain it was not a hardware issue, it all worked fine with with good old 8.1. i will proberbly plug the drive back in and give 10 another run. I might do a fresh install first i think. Oh another freeze time when as it told me it could not shut down as the store was still open.
Only two bugs here, different than yours
Picture Password does not work ( but 8 and 8.1 has this bug too at times)
Sleep, it wakes up unexpected but I fixed it until I have time to work on it, I use hibernate instead

Run an Automatic Repair - Run in Windows 8 (same for 10) to check over the boot files to see if anything is wrong with them.

I'd also establish a Clean Boot by disabling anything in Task Manager's Startup list, then type msconfig into Start Search box, choose that tool from the top, click on Services tab, tick box to "Hide all MS Services" and uncheck everything left.
This always gives best performance, so I wouldn't add back anything you don't absolutely need ready to use when the PC starts. No Display or any other software needs to Start with Windows and usually only tries to sneak in to spy on you.

Check also the logs and System Resources which are found in the same locations as shown in Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 which steps to go over the install are almost identical for use here and resolve about 90% of problems.

What I always do on my installs is to resolve all repeat errors in Administrative view of the Error log shown in tutorial. It tells how to do this by googling the text and identifying number where you will find many others have searched the same error and how they resolved it.

Just a quick addit, why does my profile pic not appear on the side of my posts. Not a major thing.

Just noticed my writing has changed.
These addit's will probably get lost and never answered in this thread...
They are questions that would get better attention in the Site Stuff forum as a separate issue/thread/question...
It may need an answer from a TF Admin.

Your avatar is what appears to the left of your posts, not you profile. These are two different things!

As for your writing, look at the bar above where you write your post. Is the B highlighted in blue? If so, click on it.
