OK I hated windows 8/8.1 but I like 10 why?
I hated and I mean hated Windows 8 and 8.1 with a pure passion. Told people it was the biggest mistake since
Millennium.
And now a few days on Windows 10 and fixing a few bugs, I like it.
Why?
Out of the box feel.
While 10 still keeps the ugliest OS look on the planet alive ( Flat Design Crap )
it has a feel to it not unlike 7 ( the best OS MS put out to date ), a lot of the functions I use in 7 are there in 10 ( apparently it was there in 8/8.1 too but hidden? )
I like, no love the start button. It was the biggest mistake to remove it, things would of gone better for MS if 8 had this at least.
I'm already customizing my OS experience
With 8 it feels like you trying to make my laptop a tablet. My laptop is not a tablet, it does not have a touch screen. We have large touch screen PC's at work and never use the touch screen for working with our documents.
We have bought at least 20 new computers in the past year all with windows 8, everybody and I mean everybody Hates 8. Constantly there are requests to put windows 7 ( back) on these computers.
Several people at work bought Macs when they needed new laptops to avoid using 8.
If Microsoft can continue to hurry up and develop 10 into a full new OS then it may save not only MS but PCs
Honestly I like 10 enough that with a few more nice features I feel it will be great.
But it needs more work.
So my point: Out of the box feel, people need to be able to walk up to the computer and be able to USE IT!
Mac, I have used on occasion and it sometimes frustrates me ( most apple programing does and I have Iphone and Ipads) Apple at least understands that Usability is Number one, something MS seems to have forgotten with Win 8
But windows 8 I would go up to and spent minutes trying to do something that would take me seconds with windows 7. Whats worse I always feel like I cannot find anything on windows 8.
Windows 10 preview already feels more organized and I can find most of what I need fast, after tweaking I can find it all and all the time. and it feel comfortable.
There was a lot of Buzz with tech writers that the 8 haters needed to embrace change, but you see change is not the issue, usability and comfort are the issues and 8 missed the mark on that by a mile.
If 10 continues on this current road then the mile will be lessened by a lot and people will start to like the PC again.
These are my experiences and thought with just about 5 days everyday use of 10 preview.
