    One Drive Icons

My One Drive icons have disappeared. Is there a way to get them back?

    Hello RSplaine, :)

Did the OneDrive icon go away from all locations (ex: taskbar, navigation pane in File Explorer, Start, etc...), or just one specific location?

What did you do right before they disappeared?

    They all went away
I went to settings on my One Drive task bar icon and unchecked the box "use office to work with other people at the same time".

I unchecked the box because I was having trouble syncing some of my files and I had RED X on a lot of files.

You get the red X if there is a synchronization issue.

For example you have a file called "Hali.docx" on your first PC it is synced to a file called "Hali.docx" on your second PC.

If you change the document on both PC's at the same time then you'll get a red "x" and you will end up with a file called "Hali.docx-PC1" as OneDrive can't merge the changes. It honestly doesn't know which is the best version.

That may be what has happen. Unchecking the "use office to work with other people at the same time". fixed the syncing problem but now I do not have the icons but the One Drive is correct. Without the icons I will not be comfortable that all my files are uploaded to One Drive. Is there solution to have both synced files and the icons?

I'm a bit reluctant to state what it SHOULD do as I don't know. What it DOES do is make a copy with the PC name appended if it is changed 2 or more times when the version on OneDrive.com is older than either. The first one to connect updates OneDrive.com, the second (based on an earlier version) has nowhere to go so it is up to you to decide which is correct.

Are your files definitely syncing with onedrive even though you are not seeing the icons on the files?
If you add a file to the directory does it appear on the onedrive.com website

    my folder is
C:\Users\Paul\Onedrive and everything in this has a green tick and syncs with the website

If however I sign out of Onedrive/Unlink from my account
I can still use C:\Users\Paul\Ondrive, but it will just be a local folder and no icons appear on the files and no syncing will occur

*unless it now deletes content when you unlink, it has been a few months since I last tried this

If you only have a few then select then:

    Ctrl + x from OneDrive and paste to desktop. (i.e remove from OneDrive}

Ctrl + x from Desktop and paste back to OneDrive. (i.e put them back)

This will update the last modified time and OneDrive will get back in Sync. In my case it didn't need to upload or download anything as the versions were already the same.

I have a lot of files updated to One Drive. My One Drive.com does sync with my computer One Drive file. I don't sign in an out of One Drive unless my computer shuts down and then I think it comes on when I sign in to Microsoft account.
