    Hi there.

if you are a Mac user it's easy to run Windows -- run as bootcamp / parallels or other VM software. We have plenty of people at work using Macs running Windows as a VM for accessing corporate applications etc. There's no need to buy a PC simply to use Windows if you are a Mac user.
    A few problems there.

    1. You must already have the Mac you want. If you don't have a 15 inch portable, you'd have to spend $1999. But then --
    2. -- you'd also have to buy a copy of Windows 10.

So that's like $2140 to 'solve' a problem I solved for $799 with fairly similar spec.

There isn't a decent o/s out there. The Mac brigade comes across as a bunch of true-believer snobs (I know several personally and they have a Jehovah's Witness look in their eyes when they talk about Mac vs. Windows. It's hard to tolerate the smugness they exude. Macs are all snob reputation and nothing to back up the hype.
Sorry. OS X is the best by a longshot, but what's it is lacking is the memory management/speed of Windows 10. If it had it the contest would be over. (But I doubt it ever will or Apple couldn't force you to buy newer hardware.) This is why Windows 10 is impressive, and since it lives on far cheaper hardware -- amazing kinda sorta.

Several Linux distros are fairly amazing as well.

Windows Peeps like to scream OS X and Linux "aren't as secure as you think" but both are only %98 more secure than Windows.

    My 2c on this...

My 2c on this thread and the post by the OP. FWIW,,,,,

    1. What I find interesting is that someone would take the time to join a forum like this one and post a wall of text complaining about an OS, in this case Win10. And in the case of the OP he/she just drops a single post/thread and runs. But what was the motivation? To just rant?? Or just to show much he/she hates Windows 10?? Or Windows in general.

Heck… if someone wants to take the time to write all of that down, create an account and start a thread.. More power to them. But to my eye it’s silly. Fine, you’re a hard core Apple fan but telling people that you hate Windows is.. Well not going to change or affect any of the users here since I think the majority of users here like Windows.

It reminds me of someone joking an Apple forum to say they hate their products. The result would be a flame war.. all heat and no light. Just like this thread.

    2. The way I look at it Windows is a fine OS and it’s just as good as OSx or any Linux Distribution. I use windows because I started using it at work back in the 80’s and I found it to be a very nice tool to run the programs/tools that I had to. When I worked at The Travelers I used Windows, Unix and IBM’s OS2 Warp. All good operating systems, IMO. But I just like windows more and when 95 came out I was hooked. And why didn’t I use an Apple product?? Well, they cost too much, that simple. I couldn’t justify spending that much for a computer. I’ve always been a home-brew person and I love to buy parts and build my own PC. That way I have total control over what goes into it. To me Apple is a fine computer but way over priced and it’s just using a glorified version of Unix. But heck.. if you got the money to burn go for it.

Bottom line.. hatters will hate I guess.

Heya Jeff. I don't know if you were indirectly replying to me, but I hope not -- since I've made it clear I like Win10 even though I prefer OS X. With that said I wanted to comment on two things you said --

Having used all 3 types I can't disagree with this more. Yes they are all OS's but no they're not 'just as good' as each other.

OS X is king. As an OS. It's the most cohesive and 'modern' of the lot. But with some world-class caveats. You can't use it unless you own the typically mildly/outrageously over-priced hardware. Also many industrial obscure software doesn't directly run in OS X.

Windows 10 OS is behind OS X. For example -- where a restorable backup is brainless and reliable in OS X, it's complicated and confused in Win X. Error codes, drivers, conflicts, workarounds -- day to day life in Win X. OS X? Not so much. And although careful surfing and such will protect you from viral/malware activity, there's still a feeling that WinX is constantly protecting itself whereas OS X and Linux aren't even sweating. Yeeeeesss things can happen is OS X and Linux. But almost never do. But Windows OS allows countless games and software to run. And some PCs are so cheap they literally come 'on a stick'.

If you want to ditch virtually all concerns regarding virus/malware -- Linux distros win big here. And there's a Linux for every piece of hardware, interest, and look. There's too frickin' many of them actually. And they're all free. The problem here is that once you ditch the virus/malware you also ditch almost all programs and games you've ever heard of. The good news is that the essential programs you need for Linux are as free as Linux. The OS itself isn't as easy to use as OS X but it a little easier to use than Windows -- except in certain situations where things get terminally ill real fast.

Sorry for the lecture but I just can't fathom how PC users can equate this way. None of these things are just like the other...

They do. Cost too much. It's true. And especially more so today as PC prices fall through the floor while Windows actually begins to finally get its act together as an OS.

The thing is I believe PC users look at price first and then distort the reality of the situation by saying things like all three are just as good. If Macs were dirt cheap with OS X and Windows machines were needlessly spec'd and priced through the roof --

    -- Windows wouldn't exist.

I don't buy cheap, I buy the best computer I can find. I would not use a Mac, I would give up using a computer if I had to buy that. I am pretty good at what I do and the Apple sight is the worst sight I have ever used. I talked to five of their techs recently, the first 3 could not solve my problem. I could not buy books, my passwords and the their search box did not work. The 4th tech accidentally solved one the problems. The fifth one helped with my passwords. There were three places where I had to sign in to buy books, all apple things they don't tell you that one password works for all three places. When I found that out I could not change them, went through the process but they would not take. The last tech fixed it for me. I had another simple problem with my Ipad using Spanish, English was an option, but it was greyed out. Finally I found away myself, the tech couldn't fix it. I will stick with windows even if I have to use W 10.

To sign in there were 2 places in the same box for ID's. The first one was for your email, how we suppose to know that?
