the only reason why im installing it really is because i just want to have a look at it and possibly help microsoft out with bugs & new features
i dont use my laptop for important stuff, mainly surfing & playing games, so if i can do this in windows 10 preview rather than having to restart in my windows 8 i would much prefer this setup. i am fully aware that there maybe some issues and that they will continuously supply us with updates so we can give feedback on any new features

I will stay subscribed and help out if jamos gets stuck, but I think it gets confusing if too many members post.

I think jamos needs to understand why he is installing Win10 - it's fairly stable, but that might not always be the case.
LMiller posted an excellent link on "Before you ..."

If jamos accepts the risks (Win10 Preview code, Backups on the same drive, etc) and figures out how he wants to install Win10 - then I think the process will go much smoother.

The ball falls back to jamos' court.
    Why are you installing Win10
How you want to install Win10
Dual boot, VM, Virtual Drive (this one I'd need to research)
Where do you want to install Win10
Where do you want to back up your system(s) and data
How proficient with computers are you - Schultz (I know nothing), average, experienced.

    Anyway, I'm on the sidelines.

With the amount of ram you have you shouldn't have any issues with vm but please do refer to the other tutorial to speed up vm
    Pretty good tips there,

That hyper-V tutorial is a monster very intimidating Slartybart

Thanks jamos, it's hard to tell, on a forum, how comfortable members are with technical details

From the sound of your last post, you seem to be off and running.

Great news - and have fun with Win10 & VMs ... I am
