    Windows 10 automatic repair loop

I'm trying to resolve an issue with a Windows 10 desktop, HP small form factor purchased with OEM Win 7. Windows Update suggested Windows 10 and now the machine boots to the automatic repair screen but there is no mouse or keyboard function where the option panes appear. While I did purchase the computer myself originally, it was purchased for the use of my church group, and two weeks ago came under the care of my co-deacon and friend. So, let's just say there is no recovery media now for Win 7 or Win 10. I can create a recovery disk here at home from one of my local Win 7 systems, but not sure if that will help or not.

I'd be perfectly happy to un-install Win10 from the machine, but there doesn't seem to be a way to get to the recovery partition... all F-key options have been tried.

This is a Core Duo processor.

It's unlikely that you will be able to create recovery media from another PC unless they are exactly the same make and model HP machine.

The HP forums are full of folks whose machines failed upgrading to Win10 -- seems to be a common problem. The solution for getting back a working machine is most often a complete factory restore. If the recovery media you made from another machine works, then that's OK.

Otherwise, the following link from the HP Support forums provides the details on how to order the HP Recovery Media: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph07143

    Hi

If you don't have any other options and you have data on the laptop that you need to recover you may need to boot the computer to a Ubuntu disk and save the information to an external hard drive or DVDs.

Once your data is safe, you can download the Windows 7 install file and reinstall Windows 7 from scratch.

You will need to know what your Windows 7 registration number is to authenticate it.

You will need Image Burn to create a bootable DVD or USB drive from the ISO file to install from.
