Desktop flickers when i click on start menu for longer

Hey, after been using Windows 10 since launch I've got annoyed by those silly things whenever I click start menu for longer than like 2 or 3 minutes. When it happens, the windows desktop flickers to black. I uninstalled the drivers and used the microsoft generic drivers and it does the same thing. Of course, when I go to safe mode and I can't use the start menu as it just opens and closes in less than the second on its own. Because of this I've been researching this through Google and it somehow all of that kinda doesn't seem to relate to that. Also, I get the error message when I shut down and I couldn't get to see the error message because windows shuts all that stuff down.

Yeah, I do have the red marked errors which the source comes from the Device Setup Manager, here's the error details:

Metadata staging failed, result={D397268A-724C-B4EF-D641-C9234BA2948B} for container '0x80070490'

Most of these errors are from event ID 131

Yeah and for that reason it kinda happen again when I open Battle.net application.

What do you mean updating? If you mean windows updates, then yes all of it are updated.

Btw, I almost forgot that while I use the start menu, I move the mouse and hover the shortcut folder and it goes a black square around that folder.

No, my windows key is not sticky. In safe mode, no matter how I tried to click the start button or use the windows key, the start menu opens and closes for a milisecond.

Yeah ,that metadata failing is old issue back from Windows 8.1, not related still not resolved i get those too.
Nothing else in Event Viewer you felt shown related to this ?

So it happens not only with Start menu, more when you click something. I thought if you received an error when shutting down it would show in Event Viewer.Did you update your Display adapter drivers (Graphics card) recently or have you since the upgrade ? There was past bugs in Windows 10 due to flickering screen, but i believe resolved. Any chance have Norton ?

Well, I get the event id 3, which it states "Session "ReadyBoot" stopped due to the following error: 0xC0000188 event id 4 which it states, "The maximum file size for session "ReadyBoot" has been reached. As a result, events might be lost (not logged) to file "C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch\ReadyBoot\ReadyBoot.etl". The maximum files size is currently set to 20971520 bytes. Otherwise, when the flicker happen, no error is shown in event viewer.

I also getting errors on service control manager. I dunno how to describe when it comes to things.

It didn't show up on the event viewer when the error happens. Since the upgrade, I updated to the latest drivers, but I roll back to 355.62 to see if its a driver issue but the problem persists, even after I uninstalled the drivers it happens. I don't have norton, to be honest. Before the transition to windows 10, I kinda used the latest drivers for windows 8.1. After i upgraded to windows 10, i removed the windows 8.1 gpu drivers and installed the windows 10 gpu drivers.

None of those other errors pertain to this, i have again also seen those in mine. More stuff MS needs to work on. Another member mentioned about updates, i see this is a custom built so i would go by motherboards manufacturer's site for system updates to Windows 10, besides that make sure you have been receiving Windows updates as some may fix issues with flicker that many have received from this upgrade, if you just Google that alone you would see number have had this issue. Not sure this is correct place, all i came across for updated system drivers. http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Fatal1ty%20Z97X%20Killer/?cat=Download&os=Win1064

Only other explanation i can think of so far is Video Card driver issues, sometimes shell extensions that are in context menu put there by third party programs are conflicting or some other running process. So even if you go into Safe mode and can not use Start menu well if does not happen doing anything else for awhile can point to being another device driver, software and running process.

I've uninstalled the system drivers, but it still does the flickering.

To be honest, the flickering didnt happen in windows 8.1 so i dunno for sure if its the gpu drivers at fault since it still does it when i uninstalled the gpu drivers since it loaded the generic microsoft vga drivers.
