Just been looking at the Virtual Customs site, and it looks like Mr Grim and the gang are already on the case. There is a forum on Windows 10 already.

Windows 10 Technical Preview (Build 9841) Is Now Available For Download! - Page 2

Unfortunately, I couldn't remember my log in details, and you only get 5 attempts

There you go guys, pretty up your computers to your hearts content. That's what computing is all about, some people just want a computer to do work, some for gaming, some for prettying up, it shouldn't all be in the OS. The OS should be nice and it should be fast, if you want to turn it into a fantasy world like I did years ago, get some third party stuff.

The problem with third party themes... is Microsoft's constant security changes which will no doubt kill any third party theme with an additional update,

Windows glass doesn't really qualify as something outlandish it should be a basic built in theme option to take away the kindergarten look of 8.1 and 10.

Glass was almost certainly removed because it sucks battery life... Microsoft doesn't want it to be an option because people will enable it, then complain that their battery life is poor. The focus of Windows since Windows 8 has been to improve the Mobile story, so they have done a lot of things around that.. making Windows take far fewer resources, increasing battery life, etc...

You can argue that you should have the choice, but in the end, Microsoft pays the bills for support costs... they can choose to design the OS in ways that reduce their support costs.

And that statement sums up win-8.1 unpopularity
Revolving around a Surface/ cell phone and not real machines is just narrow minded and will amount to not much more than 8.1 has produced zero or stagnant net gain and computer sells.

Overpriced Surfaces also have been going no where too narrow of a market

It's not just Surface. It's all mobiles.. Including Laptops, Ultrabooks, 2-in-1's, and yes, tablets (not just surfaces).

Microsoft is not the only company that sells these, you know.

That is the ugliest, most difficult to read web site I've ever had the displeasure of looking at, as is the desktop shown.

I;m an Aero Glass lover but ... yuck!

Your reaction is exactly why Microsoft shouldn't add this rubbish into the system, everyone has different tastes. If you want to pimp up your machine look around the net and see what takes your fancy and get some 3rd party mods etc. I'd much rather start off with a light and nimble OS, then if I want to turn it into Starwars, I can do so with add ons.

"Apple has started rolling out a new iTunes Store design for OS X Yosemite testers that have iTunes 12 installed. The revamped storefront takes several design elements from the iTunes Store and App Store on iOS, adopting a cleaner, flatter look that does away with a lot of shadowing and texture that was previously seen in the design. The revamped look fits in with the design of iTunes 12, which takes on the flatter, more iOS-like look seen across OS X Yosemite"

This is the way the world's going at the moment, not shadows and Aero and stuff, just nice and clean.

The trouble in a nutshell is that the shell is hard wired into the system. On Linux with X-Windows there are many window managers to choose from. Light fast and flat, others with eye candy and plenty between. For that matter there are specialized distros for particular uses. POS, routers and firewalls, software development etc..

With one size fits all it can end up fitting like OJ's gloves. :)

It could end up like that or it could just work, Microsofties seem to think it will, and I hope it does, because I'm sick of going between OSX, IOS, ANDROID, LINUX and WINDOWS.
