Hello Gorekid and welcome to the forum! :)

    Please see quote below

Sounds bizarre, but a fix for similar symptoms has been to disable system sounds, then change UAC to lowest setting, and finally to re-enable sounds.

Have a look at this thread. There was another with more detail, but I can't find it right now.

That was the fix!! So weird!

Just to clarify for anyone else, The fix was to change the windows sounds from whatever I had selected, to the windows default sounds.

You can do this by using the start menu to search for "Sound" then clicking the control panel sound option.

Then go to the "Sounds" tab and make your sound scheme either "No Sounds" or "Windows Default"
Please let us know if this solves your issues. Thanks

If you have to keep UAC at lowest setting then please be aware of the following:

    • UAC is necessary to 'harden' your system. ie To protect your device against malware that gets past AV programs and firewalls.
    • This should only be considered a temporary fix and it is recommended you reset UAC back to it's original state, once a permanent solution is found
    • I do not **believe** there is a permanent solution at this moment in time
    • By either disabling or lowering UAC settings, you accept the potential increased risk of subsequent malware infection
