I already did clean install two times. It is still very laggy and almost useless. My drivers seem to be up to date and all best for my hardware, but... I thought that maybe my hdd is corrupted or something like that, but it worked just well with windows 7 (much, much faster and no lag ever). First month of usage was just fine. Everything was faster than windows 7 (especially fast boot), but after first crash appeared and now after some time... I will check my BIOS for SATA settings. Thank you alphanumeric for help.

If it's in IDE mode don't change it. If you do Windows won't boot up. There is a trick to switching it if you have to. Just post back what mode its in. There are diagnostics you can run on your hard drive. You just have to know who made it so you can get their diagnostic. I put an SSD in my laptop. The speed difference is phenomenal.

OK, this is odd. I am unable to enter my BIOS. I tried f2 and del. No, just boots into rotating circles which are also laggy a bit, but it turned on so fast. I shut it down for 3 times, but nothing. Desktop is still laggy. Any ideas?

P.S. I have just waited a bit, and now it is very fast :/ I opened Edge, Chrome and even a game and it is very, very fast. No lag whatsoever. I haven't changed anything! Startup was ready immediately... I am not joking. This is how it used to work, but would have "issues" from time to time.

Some keyboards you have to make sure the f keys are enabled. Not set for media control or some such.

Try turning off Windows Fast Startup, https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/4...dows-10-a.html When turned on it can make it hard to get into the BIOS. The PC goes into a hybrid sleep mode instead of a full shutdown. The other option is, https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5...dows-10-a.html Likely won't work for you as you probably don't have a UEFI BIOS.

I went to BIOS by the tutorial (and restored fast boot again, because it took 5+ min. to boot) and it uses AHCI mode (it does support UEFI because it says that it supports and I've used it with windows 7 and Linux, but it doesn't matter). What should I do now? It is unlikely that it fixed itself and there is still a bit of lag on application-software start up.

Run diagnostics on the hard drive I guess? Did you install in UEFI mode? If you did there should be an EFI partition listed in Disk management.

Check device manager to see what make and model hard drive you have. Then go to the manufacturers web and look for a diagnostic utility.

This is very odd once more. Device manager shows me only the number ST9250315AS. Nothing more. I googled but it shows me only specifications.

P.S. It seams that publisher and maintainer is Seagate and it advises software named "SeaTools for Windows". I will try it and get back to you. :) Thank you so much so far :)
