Windows 10 killed my $3600 custom PC

The first time installing 10 took half a month, -with all the missing drivers. That was the better Parr of a year ago.
Once installed the PC freezes randomly. Audio will stop, then all mouse function a few seconds after.

Random USB ports go in and out of operable function, and the external audio DAC is sometimes there and running, then at other times a message tells me it has no drivers... where they go after theyou are downloaded into the drivers folder, I have no idea, they simply disappear randomly like the PC is purging itself of them automatically.

In all. Over the last year, I have taken my PC to three experts that can find no option but to run my state of the art, cutting edge, custom video editing machine, on win 7....

Today I turned it on, went to get my tea, came back and Windows 10 is uploading itself to my PC again..... black screen.... nothing functions.... unplugged and plugged in again to see if it will start up.... All dark, no lights, Nothing.

    $3500 paperweight... Thanks Microsoft!

If you built that custom PC by yourself with state of the art components, you are responsible for manually installing the necessary drivers to make them work and to utilize every bit of features each hardware are designed to do. Windows 10 comes with universal/generic drivers to run even the most basic PCs. These drivers should work as-is but if they didn't work on yours, each hardware that you put together on your PC came with CDs or document with links to driver sources to make them work.
Your PC is not a paperweight. You just need to know how to make it work. And you came to the right place.

You say it's a $3500 PC but it also appears that it's Win7-era PC, and one that old is likely to have issues with Win10 drivers for the hardware.

You didn't post any hardware specs, so without them, folks here can't help with driver suggestions.

If it was a year ago that you did the upgrade, that was part of the Insider program, and what did you expect with that was, essentially, a BETA edition of the OS?

Any of your so-called Experts try doing a Repair-Install with a current Win10 ISO? If not, they certainly weren't "experts" -- in any sense of the word.

I have three Win7-era PCs I upgraded to Win10, two of which were disasters -- but I expected that, as they were really old PCs. The remaining PC upgraded without problems and has been working without problems ever since.

Microsoft is not responsible for making your hardware work. The manufacturer of the hardware is.

I'm having deja vu. So many things in the OP don't make any sense. Anyway, do a clean install of Windows 10. Is that still doesn't work, you likely have some hardware issues to sort out.

Good to know that he could save $100.

windows 10 runs on my super cheap computer (approximated to $ value) of $530 very perfectly, as perfectly as windows 7 did ... or it kills the extreme costly computers only?

Start over. Get a Windows 10 ISO, "wipe the machine" and do a clean install.

    Hi there

I hate to say this but the lack of basic engineering skills demonstrated here to me seems simply appalling -- I shudder to think that I'll be dependent on these types of "Engineers" as I come into retirement.

Go back to First principles --

    1) Open computer and take pictures / notes of how everything is connected -- and note any manual dip switches (although these days there shouldn't be any of those.

    2) Remove everything including all HDD's, Memory, GPU, even the CPU if you can do it easily.

    3) Now replace CPU and switch on -- OK you won't have keyboard or anything yet - but check all fans are working - that shows CPU isn't broken or incorrectly inserted.

If nothing happens ensure PSU is connected --there's sometimes a little switch (led) that also needs to be connected on some MOBOS before PSU will switch on. If still nothing then 99.9% defective mobo / CPU.

    4) now insert GPU and monitor and a keyboard. Still leave 0K memory -- i.e don't connect any memory.

    5) Switch on and see if you can get BIOS messages --if you get that far then problem is in one of the other components --HDD / Memory etc.

    6) insert one memory module at a time (still no HDD's etc) and boot -- if no Bios messages then you've got a defective / incompatible memory module.

    7) after Memory now add HDD's one at a time -- If BIOS OK but computer BSOD then the OS needs to be re-installed.

Just go through everything slowly and logically -- don't rush things and change too many options at once --you can't break a computer by re-booting it loads of times.

    Cheers
    jimbo
