    Suspect pop-ups not going away

Started seeing popups as shown in attached photo. Windows Defender does not detect any anomaly. If I close a pop-up, it immediately opens again and they stay on top of anything else.
All updates are installed. What steps can I take to clean up my computer?

Hi, there are articles on the web about this, if you care to search e.g.
McAfee Customer Service -- Official Site

Click on the + on the left to expand text.
    There's a section for FF.

If related to a recent change made in Firefox, for example, and the above doesn't help, I suppose there's even a chance using a suitable System Restore point might help, asuming the origin of these is trivial.

    Uninstall Firefox.
Shutdown and wait for a minute then restart.
In Powershell [admin ],type in ---dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth ---and run it.
When completed, type in ---sfc /scannow ---and continue to run it until a clean report is given.
    Reinstall Firefox.
Is the problem still active ?

    In your Browser Settings:

    1. Delete Temporary Browser files and Cookies.
    2. Review your Browser Security, Privacy, and Pop-up settings. They need to be higher.

Thank you all for your valuable recommendations. Using the links offered by @dalchina, I tools steps summarized by @hrlmut and so far the problem appears to have gone away. If it returns then I will follow the tools recommended by @joeandmarg0.

HOST files ( in the system/etc ) across various Operating Systems. Is the quickest solution to not seeing any ads, or connecting to various locations ( like something you do not want your local town idiot/blabber-mouth/gossiper to see ). Look for a strong list online. You should be able to open the file or even replace it ( but not save in the location ). Even nowadays Microsoft tries to get you to stop using it. Android 12+ some applications will not respond to the hosts file list. It is extremely annoying to edit nowadays.

Another solution is to use Brave browser, Libre-Wolf ( a fork of Firefox with chrome usage but no google ) and install a blocker/ad-blocker.

Again those are ads meant to get you to click them. Click-bait. Like when I am browsing and I see xxx in my face; like it is a bad joke. This is not 1994, I see that outside all day long.
