    Start menu tiles problem

I have very annoying problem with the start menu. When I expand the menu horizontally, the tiles wont move in to the empty space. I have tried everything. Cant move them manually either by dragging. Tiles just stay left. Here's picture of my problem: http://imgur.com/MVLlWur

I will greatly appreciate your help in this problem.

Hello jessuro Welcome to the Ten Forums!

The one and only solution unfortunately to solve that little problem is to simply pin more shortcuts to the Start! Once you fill a row or two you can then expand further to the right. That will then see a new column open until the limit is reached.

Now if you want to condense things to see more items fit into a smaller space or to fill in more of the empty space with fewer tiles you can resize them with a right click! Some of the pinned items or item you pin on your own will see four sizes while most will tend to see "medium" and "small". have a look! :)

First you can add more items along the top to get things moving for you!

And then you may have the option to shrink or grow the tile itself depending on what it is. You'll notice that Edge being the new web browser has all four sizes in the right click menu! And you always go in the reverse direction to shrink to fit more .

And last you can put each tile into a separate category among others of the same type to get thing organized regardless of which size you have them set for except the wide and large options apparently not available for just anything pinned.

You simply left click on the category name to change it if not the pair of short horizontal equal sign type lines "==" in order to enter a new name entered and then press the enter/return key to see that set.

Thank you for tips, but I still cant move those tiles to left. And I have plenty of tiles so that's not the problem. Here's video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKWQ...ature=youtu.be

Unfortunately it doesn't matter which tiles you move first

It doesn't work for me but maybe it's my screen resolution of 1440x900 that limits making the list wider.

I run the same screen resolution here on a pair of 19" lcds. From what I have seen you can only stretch it out so far or go full screen as you would see on 8, 8.1 with Metro type Start screen there. That remains an option due to 10 still being a dual platform desktop/mobile type touchscreen capable OS. 7 saw touchscreen support but the newer versions since have incorporated the Tablet mode in as well. The narrowest you can make it in order to resemble the older Vista/7 type Start menu is seen in the last snipping there when having resized all but one CloseAllWindows tile to the small size.

Thanks for all your help and replies. MS-support helped me out with remote control. It turned out that my login profile was somehow corrupted and I had to create new one. Case Solved

As I mentioned earlier I am running the dual monitors at the 1440x90 res and now have the Start menu widened out indicating that a glitch in Windows is what would prevent the option to rearrange things.

At least that was a fast fix for you there! On one upgrade the Start button wasn't even seen while still being there with the Setting screen being totally blank and no access to the AllApps section at the bottom. Clean install came fast on the former 7 laptop!
