    Taskbar icons blinking suddenly

Hello! So I have this extremely annoying issue on Windows 10 with the taskbar.

Randomly, the taskbar icons start to blink suddenly, like it came out of nowhere.

So, I want to disable this feature once and for all, like changing services, using the Task Scheduler, or even regedit.

Is there any way to stop this? Thanks!

    Version: 22H2
    Build Number: 19045.4412

This is likely due to some 3rd party program you've installed. ! well-known culprit is 'Translucent Taskbar'.

If you don't have that installed, then
    - perform a clean boot (Google or see Tutorial if unfamilar)

    Check the problem doesn't exist.
Re-enable startups progressively until it does.

Or you could disable startups individually and work backwards. In this case you would start with the less common/more obscure programs- why? because most people don't experience this.

How long have you had this problem? Consider what change you may have made around then.

You can readily find generalised guides like this too:

but I suggest you start with the above.

    Hello,

I understand that your taskbar icons are flashing. Are all of them flashing or just certain ones? Does the entire taskbar flash as well?

There are many ways to troubleshoot this issue, where to start depends on what you were doing on your PC just before the issue started.

A few suggestions to get you started before we make drastic changes to the system:

    1. Scan for Malware
    2. Update Windows
    3. Update Driver
    4. Run a System Scan
    5. Run a Disk Image Check
    6. Boot into Safe Mode and see if the icons stop flashing.
    7. Preform a Clean Boot
    8. Create a New User Account. And see if the flashing icons stop,
    9. Remove UI modifying Third-Party Apps.
    10. Registry Change

Let us know if there are any problem drivers showing up in Device Manager, and which ones they are.

Disable the "Show Badges on Taskbar Buttons" settings. In Taskbar Settings.

If only one icon is flashing. It’s possible that an app icon is flashing because the app is showing an important alert.

    More drastic changes would include:
    1. Repair Install
    2. Factory Reset

Yes, I did that look at your post once I saw it, so what's your point?

When I first got here, no one had replied to the OP. No one was here besides me, not even a guest. While I was putting together some suggestions for a fix, you had come in and posted before I had finished my comment. I'm sure you saw me here when you arrived.

I didn't know we were having a race at who can post first. Then claim I already said that first. LOL

    1. I had no idea you were posting. Your assumption is false.
    2. Your assertion is something of an insult. We're here to help people.
    3. Your first question in your post is redundant as DiggaDigga2010 had provided the information.
    4. Posting can clash - that's life- accept it.
