How can I ensure point in time recovery of open files across reboots?

How do I ensure point in time recovery of open application files across reboots? (notepad files, word processing files, pages open in browsers, pdf files, folders that were open, etc.)

If a power failure, or update, caused a reboot, I'd like to see all the files that were open before the reboot, whether saved or not, open and ready for further work, as if the reboot never happened. If it was an update, I want to retain that update.

    Thanks,

Hi, there's absolutely no 100% guarantee of that whatsoever.

Some things that help in limited ways:
    1. Some programs e.g. word processors, Thunderbird.. keep saving the current state of what you're working on, minimising loss.

    2. See
Turn On or Off Automatically Restart Apps after Sign In in Windows 10
    - restartable Store apps can be set to automatically relaunch after a restart.

    3. Ensure your work is never interrupted by updates causing a restart. See relevant tutorials.

    4. Power outage: desktop - get a UPS. Laptop- use its battery.
