You know what a Shim operation is?

    /offbootdir=unused old MBR-Bootpartition?

Now that the Partition scheme is correct for Disk #2 put it back in the troubled computer and try to boot to it.
If that is successful, you can start a Command Prompt as Admin and run
    SFC /scannow and press Enter.
If it says, there are No Integrity Violations, then DISM and SFC have repaired Windows and it should be good.

Update 1- Putting the disk back into the non-working PC did not work - the PC took me straight into Bios.

Update 2 - I got into a loop with DISM and SFC - DISM runs ok , works successfully, but SFC couldn't fix all the corruptions. this sfc was run in offline mode as before..

And for clarity, the boot disk from the non-working PC, G:\System, is Disk 4 in my diagram, rather than Disk 2.

I have made some progress on this but not quite there yet. I ran a cycle of DISM and SFC several times. at one point I checked around the disks and/volumes and partitions with a feeling that something was missing. I found a video covering resetting the boot set up with bcdedit and followed that thru. It finished successfully, and said it had corrected some files. When I ran the g:\disk back on the troubled pc it didn't boot though. For the heck of it I ran DISM and SFC one more time on the supporting PC, and this time they both ran through for longer than previously, and successfully. Running the disk back on the troubled PC and it didn't go straight to Bios, but ran with the spinning dots before failing with a BSOD - Your device ran into a Problem ... but this is a lot better!

I have had to give up on this. Was taking too long and there too many instabilities. Thanks to all those who chipped in, I learnt new stuff along the way.

Glad you learned a few things.
You can of course now do a Clean Install on that drive.
I would disconnect any other drives with Windows on it, other than the one you working on, so as it doesn't get mixed up.

You are free to believe what you want. And what you believe is only your truth!

But as I said before: Your Commands don't work! And that is very easy to prove also!

Your way shows: no integrity violations

The right way shows this: integrity violations found and fixed successfully

If you can't talk nice to people, then don't bother talking to them at all; I've seen quite a lot of posts by you that are rude - First and final warning, be nice or go somewhere else.
