I saw the same popup long ago when I was offered an upgrade to Windows 11. But unfortunate my system didn't meet the minimum hardware requirements for the upgrade. My CPU failed because it was a seventh generation Intel processor.

I have the unsupported upgrade on a couple 4th Gen i5 Notebooks, a Dell Inspiron 15" and an HP Envy 17", haven't seen any issue with last half-dozen Patch Tuesday updates.

Have also seen where a paid-for extension for each computer may be possible but not cheap, increases each year.

The Bottom Line is that Windows 10 is supported until October 2025.
There may be Paid Support past that date.

Yes and they are charging a lot for that support.

Won't be cheap, came across this on:
Microsoft Extends Security Updates for Windows 10 Beyond 2025 (for a Price) | PCMag

UPDATE 4/5/24: Microsoft says an Extended Security Update (ESU) license for businesses will cost $61 per device for one year. That price will double every consecutive year, for up to three years. Businesses can purchase these licenses starting in October 2024. Education customers, meanwhile, will pay $1 per license for the first year, $2 the following year, and $4 the third year.

Details on ESU licenses for consumers will be announced "at a later date...on our consumer end of support page," Microsoft says.

    Hello,

Yes, I did a little digging into the upgrade subject, as well. I did see many have upgraded successfully. I also saw some cautions about losing security support updates at any given point.

It's an old computer, 7th gen., not sure which way I want to go. For now, I think I'd rather keep Windows 10 on it, so I have something I can troubleshoot with, given the need. It's hooked up to my living room Smart TV, doing the role of a media center.

I do have a brand-new Dell XPS 8960 Desktop computer, which is just over a month old.

    Thanks, for the information.

Good plan, I'm also keeping a Win10 Desktop and Notebook plus a Win7 Desktop for referring to.

I bet the reason why I didn't get the popup is that I have Enterprise installed. Probably also why I didn't get Copilot.

I received this pop-up! The only way I could get it to go away was clicking Remind Me Later.

Well why not the nation needs the income. Just burn a dollar for the sake of religous nutjobs everywhere.

What about the millions who can't afford a new computer? Is Microsoft compensating us, nah. I'm glad I quit the MVP group
years ago., They really are a heartless bunch. Except for Shawn Brink who I know actually cares but diplomatically avoids this discussion.[/COLOR]
The truth is more horrible then it really is. I could go into points.

The Windows 10 operating system works perfectly fine for the most part. But Microsoft ( like Nintendo ) wants you to mindlessly purchase hardware.

    ...........

I Have not seen that pop-up but I have been seeing my search app will not turn off so easy
