Use the underlying start menu folders. You can have - with Win 10 style menus- just a top-level folder- but no more.

With Open Shell (free) you can have a folder hierarchy correctly represented. It also gives you easy access to the underlying folders.

If you wanted to, you could use Open Shell purely as a start menu editor, but still use the Win 10 start menu with all its limitations.

    Try this:
Duplicate Program shortcuts in Windows 10 Start Menu

I second the suggestion to install Open-Shell it brings back the Windows 7 type Start Menu with clear shortcut Folder Hierarchy that is easily editable.

Create a shortcut icon on the Desktop
    Copy the icon to either
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\(required folder) - you'll have to turn on hidden files/folders
    or
    C:\Users\(user profile name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\(required folder)
    Delete the Desktop shortcut icon

But I don't want to change the start menu style.
Want to keep as standard with two icons for DupGuru, so can put one under photos icons and one under music thanks

Create (or choose) folder Photos - add shortcut.

Create (or choose) folder Music - add shortcut.

The folder paths are shown in idgat's post.

    Note that
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

    -is 'All users'.

With Open Shell, accessing those two folders is as easy as
    rt click Programs
    click the one you want
