Restored favorites in explorer navigation pane missing dropdown arrow

I've restored the favorites link in the file explorer navigation pane in Windows 10 with a registry tweak, however there is no arrow or dropdown menu effectively making it useless. I've done so much searching on how to fix this issue but it seems nobody else has ever come across it. Any help? 22H2

I'd wager that a right-click and Properties of that icon will show it is a shortcut to the actual location of the folder, signified by the upward curving to the right of the little blue arrow.

No sir. It is the icon of the folder, not a shortcut icon. All the registry tweaks to restore the favorites bar link to shell:Links or %USERPROFILE%\Links instead of the historically used favorites folder - shell:Favorites or %USERPROFILE%\Favorites, for some reason.

I suggest you seek advice from whoever gave you the procedure that you used to add that link in the Navigation pane as an independent entry.

    All the best,

The fact that the relevant TenForumsTutorial procedure has the same behaviour makes me think that you will not find the solution you desire.
Add or Remove Favorites in Navigation Pane of File Explorer - TenForumsTutorials

And the fact that the author of the procedure you used said he'd look into a solution eight years ago rather endorses that.
But somebody else did post what they said was a solution in that webpage.

    All the best,
    Denis

    Welcome to TenForums.

It's really worth making time to browse through the Tutorial index - there's a shortcut to it at the top of every page.
    - At the foot of the Tutorial index is a shortcut to download it as a spreadsheet.
    - I download a new copy each month.
    - By downloading it as a spreadsheet I can benefit from Excel's excellent filtering capabilities when I search for topics of interest.
    - Tutorials are also listed by category at Tutorials - there's also a shortcut to that at the top of every page.
    - Both tutorial lists are searchable.
    - You can also search for TenForumsTutorials in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com/tutorials after your search term. For example,
    taskbar toolbars site:tenforums.com/tutorials

You can search TenForums using the search box in the top-right corner of all TenForums webpages or using Advanced Search - TenForums
    - You can also search TenForums threads in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com after your search term. For example,
Search for drivers by HardwareID site:tenforums.com
    - [This is what the search box in the top-right corner of TenForums webpages does automatically]

As predicted, that solution doesn't work. Still looking into fixing this.

Consider other ways to add favourites - in many Open/Save dialogues as well as file explorer.

    a. Listary (free/pro) - invoke by middle click in empty space in file explorer etc or from tray icon.
    Does much more.

    b. Actual Window Manager (and subsets for reduced fee) - adds buttons to the title bar including favourites and recent.
    Does a lot more.

    c. Note that Qttabbar does NOT add favourites- only recent files.

Example of Listary with f explorer:

Did you Move the Location of the Users files (ie) Desktop, Downloads, Documents etc to the D:\Maxone drive? If so, browse to the directory and restore the Favorites, and other user files to their default location (see below)
You can also Right click this folder and choose to Pin to Quick Access
    If not,
Browse to C:\Users\UserName right click the Favorites folder, choose Properties, choose the Location tab, and press the Restore Default button.

If you want to restore those User files to the D:\Drive, open that up, create an empty folder named Favorites, etc and in the C:\Users\UserName directory right click the Favorites folder, choose Properties/Location tab and click the Move button and browse it to the empty folder on D:\ and overwrite the empty folder. The shortcut now will point to the D:\ drive.
