My desktop PC is fully compatible except for the processor, but I have a new compatible W11 processor ready to be installed. so when I absolutely have to upgrade I will install the new Processor, but not until I have to!

Note that such a hardware change may invalidate a license acquired from a free upgrade from Win 7/8.1.

Or you may be ok. The safest route is to have your digital activation associated with a MS account before making the change.

I'm running a purchased legal copy of Windows 10 Pro on a Microsoft account!

So what? I never suggested your license wasn't legal.

Is your digital activation linked to your MS account? that's something you have to choose to do. Doesn't happen by default.

Oh, and thank you for your reply.
