My computer was updated and the desktop icons switch around when i download something with shortcut icon. I forgot how to control what happens to my desktop icons. I do not want the ones that are already there to change position. Windows 10
version 22h2 (os build 19045.4170) . Pretty sure it's easy, but memory fails. Help, please

Some people have many shortcuts etc on a crowded desktop. Others have very few. There are good ways to manage without overcrowding your desktop.
If you really want lots on your desktop, but want them grouped and orderly, and unaffected by the addition of more, try Stardock's Fences. Not expensive, does the job.
Hint- there are many threads on this topic- do consider using tenforums as a resource and search to see if there are previous answered and solved ones
