    How to display HEIC files in windows explorer


    Hi

    I have W10

    I store all my pictures on a hard drive attached to my PC.
    When I open a folder containing jpg files and the folder is
    set to display extra large icons the picture is shown, this suits me
    as I can see the picture without opening the fille.

    Any pictures taken with my phone are HEIC and ony a HEIC graphic ic shown.

    Is there a way to get the picture displayed?

    no I do not, where would I get one and where would I install it?

    If you've got an iPhone you can set it to save images in jpg format.

    Otherwise an alternative free codec that works well and can also convert to jpg is available here:

    I received two HIEC files attached to an email yesterday. I opened them in Paint and was able to view them, then to save them as JPGs. I was using Windows 11, but I hope this might offer another workable method to consider!
