search box disabled

    search box disabled


    the search box on my bottom toolbar appears to be disabled.
    when i click on the box i do not get the cursor therefore i am unable to type any searchs

    There are numerous threads on not being able to type in the search box.

    Do please feel free to search tenforums.

    Please ensure CTFMON.EXE is running.

    Have you tried using a suitable System Restore point?

    1 Do all other parts of the "Taskbar" respond correctly?
    2 Does the Taskbar respond correctly for another user account [even if you have to create one for the test]?3 Does the taskbar respond correctly in Safe mode?4 Have you installed any utilities to change the user interface or applied any tweaks to do so?

I am using the latest version of Windows 10 PRO - I disabled Cortana in Group Policy Editor, which according to Microsoft, only disables Cortana, not the entire search feature. Unfortunately, on this laptop, if Cortana is disabled, then I can no...
So I've gotten fed up enough with the terrible windows search system. I went into services.msc and disabled the windows search service; then restarted my computer. However, "Cortana" is still listed in my task manager taking up 50mb of memory....
