can't get into pc after a program came imbedded with driver booster

not sure of the name of the unwanted program , something like tidy desktop. I uninstalled it straight away but it left me unable to get into any other program. I have tried recovery but nothing there was working, ran chkdsk twice, no help, tried SFC & dism still can;t open pc. don't know of anything else to try , Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'am pretty much a novice so please be patient with me. Cheers Gail

Welcome to the forum. To be clear can you login to windows bur cant run any software? Can you run a system restore to revert before the problems. What exactly is the name of the software that gave a problem a virus or other?

The log file created by Startup Repair can help to find out the cause of the boot problem. In this video, i will explain how to use the Startup Repair tool to troubleshoot boot problems in Windows 10 and Windows 11.

From Windows Recovery Environment execute the following commands to list of installed storage drives.

    Code:
    Diskpart

    List disk

So you can get past the login screen but the explorer and other programs do not start up and or exit one by one? Might be a permissions issue.

However if you come to a Blue screen and no matter how many times you press anything all you get is a flashing blue-screen this means your "System reserve" is unable to find your Windows ( or any ) installation. A quick fix I would do for the following
    via command-line

If your Windows is C already and you know your system reserve then you can skip 0-0H

    0. The following command will start up "diskpart"
    diskpart
0A. Diskpart will appear and then you would type in
    list disk
0B. A list of disks would appear and then you would select a disk via
select disk 1 ( or whatever number the disk you want to work on )
0C. The following command will list volumes on that disk.
    list volume
0D. The following command will select a specific volume on that disk.
select volume 2 ( or whatever number the volume you want to work on )
0E. The following command will assign letter to that specific drive. In this case we are assigning windows operating system C
    Assign letter =C
0F. Then you would select the system reserve volume ( usually around 100MB give or take ).
    Select Volume 1
0G. Then you would assign a letter to the volume
    Assign letter =S
    0H. Then you exit diskpart
exit diskpart ( or whatever shortcut to exit )

    1. The following command below will inform the boot manager that your windows = C and Boot Record/System Reserve = S

    bcdboot C:\Windows /s S:

You assigned the operating system as C:\ and your System reserve as S:\

Then you could exit, and continue to boot ( might need a restart ? ) IDK.

That is what I have to go through whenever I get that flashing sky-blue screen and no matter how many times I boot it goes no where. Usually the result of moving my drive to another machine or moving drives in my computer.

    can't get into windows

Thank you Daymin for your reply, I am afraid I am having trouble no doubt due to my inexperience please be patient. When I get to list volume I show : vol 1 ltr C ntfs partition 781 gb healthy
    " 2 D " " 581 mb "

I think these are the only two volums that matter, I have tried both, using the full name of volume 1 & just 1, volume 2 & just 2
then assign letter =C I get there is no volume specified. please select a volume and try again. I don't know what I'am reading wrong, gail
