how to display boot options during bootup?

My dell 7347 laptop on bootup will show a blue progress bar and F2, F12 in the lower right corner of the display along with the Dell logo. This is helpful should one forget these commands.

However, I'm not sure how this particular bootup option is set to display this information or not?

On my dell 7359 laptop, only the dell logo is displayed and not the progress bar for long enough, nor the F2, F12 keys in the lower right corner.

Thus, for all Dell laptops, and I assume other vendors, how does one turn on or off this feature to display a progress bar long enough along with the F2, F12 function key names during bootup and to show it everytime it boots up? I know the commands, I just want them displayed during bootup....

The Dell Splash Screen is shown as the Bios is loading.
The easiest way to do this is to download the latest Bios from the Dell Drivers page https://www.dell.com/support/home/en...laptop/drivers

Or you can follow these instructions

The progress bar is displayed if your Dell's BIOS has Quiet Boot disabled in the BIOS settings. It's just reporting POST and status on searching for system devices.

Look for a BIOS setup screen that resembles:

Apparently the dell inspirion 13 7000 series laptops don't have an option in the BIOS to turn this on or off.
So some laptops like the 7347/7348 have it turned on and later models don't show it upon bootup.

    Mike,

As soon as the Dell logo appears, start repeatedly tapping the F12 key as quickly as you like until you see the screen respond - don't just press it and keep it down.

@Try3 - I can get into the bios setup hitting F2 or the boot menu hitting F12. Its just getting the function keys to show in the lower right corner during bootup regardless if I hit the function key or not.

    Mike,

[Now you have repeated that, I cannot understand how I could have misunderstood the first time.]

If Dell does not bother making them visible then Dell are the only ones who can help you.
Try searching Dell support and the Dell user forums for guidance.

I've had some Dells that displayed the keys and others that did not.

    Best of luck,
    Denis
