    Automaticlly rename files

    Hey!

I am trying to automate a work flow where i need to download files for a specific web-page. The files gets a new revisjon number each time witch makse the flow to stop. I need to rename the files not to contain the revisjon number to be able to use them in the desired app.

    Exsample:
Original file name would be "ARK_Project.ifc" (whitch i want it to be after rename)
ARK_Project #1.ifc is the name after downloaded from web. The week after the name would have a new revisjon (ARK_Prosject #2.ifc) and so on.

Is there a way i can get a bat file to search for the downloadedfile using whild card? ore is there another way to get this task to preform flawless?

Hi, something like this might be of interest.
File Juggler - Rename files automatically

Depends exactly how you want to integrate it of course.

It looks as if this monitors a folder and automatically renames based on criteria you set.

I've only looked at it superficially.

    Another maybe- not free

    Thank you @dalchina,

This could have been a solution, but it makes the automtion more complex than i think it needs to be and i need to set up more work flows to deal whit another app. I guess the answer i am looking for is in the writing of file juggler it self :)

I understood the idea of that program is that it automatically does the renaming - i.e. it sits there monitoring the folder so needs no incorporation into anything.

I could well be wrong as I've not used it and that was just the impression I remember.

It's not clear from your description how the original files are presented for download. Does the download link provide a pointer to the most current version, or links to a folder where all the current and previous versions are provided?

If the target URL is static, then use wget or curl programs to save the latest file under a specific filename.

    wget http://webpage.com/ARK_Project/file -O "ARK_Project.ifc"
