I can use apps despite using a local account.
Off the top of my head, I use Calculator, Maps.
Where you perhaps thinking of some particular apps?

Well the thing is I have been able to download apps without microsoft store. They run okay.
Even installing something from scratch is okay.
After awhile it looks like the app is trying to "touch base". Without any internet connection it becomes useless.

I have read somewhere about re-registering my apps ( as that might be the problem ) and the reason why it needs to touch
    base.

By "touch base" I mean you use windows, and go online via the store, Because once you move your windows installation to another computer it is like you logged out of the rights to use the apps. The apps wants you to "acknowledge" that you have "touched-base" at least once via the hardware you are currently using, before you could use the app.

Just by touching base, is like "logging in". This works without any log-in. Because I assume the "Microsoft Store" wants to exchange information about your hardware ???? Before anything could be used????

I have not tried to "re-register" my apps. I guess "touching base" will do the same thing ???

I will probably upgrade to Windows 12 but I am skipping Windows 11 - it's a Windows Millennium/Vista/8.0 cycle rat and I do not want it.

Windows 12 should be more stable with more features.
    We shall see.
I also plan on skipping Win 11 in favor of Win 12. Will it be more stable? Probably not at initial release.

Once we (me, my wife) get over the learning curve, then will stay on 12 for a long time. I don't like the fact that in Win 11 MS made UI changes that didn't seem to have any real beneift. I don't like being a mouse in a maze for MS Ui designers.
