    Robocopy copy folders confusion

Hello this thread is a continuation of this post (How to copy 1st level directories C:\ as source using xxcopy) needing further refinement.

In post # 9, user ricardobohner suggested using robocopy c: d: Windows /e, to copy the Windows folder to d:, however, this does not copy the Windows folder at all. This line of command, assumes there is a FILE named Windows, copying individual folders in the above syntax does not work. In other words, to copy the Windows directory, the syntax needs to be changed to:

    robocopy c:\Windows d:\Windows /e

What is very strange is that, microsoft robocopy Learn page also suggests the same thing that user ricardobohner said

Can anyone verify this on your system ?

Not quite sure why anyone would want to use Robocopy to copy the Windows system folder, in the first place??

This was just an example from the original poster, but similarly with other folders, the same thing is happening

Actually, just re-reading the thread header, AFAIK Robocopy doesn't do folders by name, only files.

The best way I could figure out is to copy a whole drive/folder, and use the /xd switch (Except directories). This copies everything and just leaves behind the directories (folders) I wanted in the first place.
