    Selection

    Hello,

My computer is being a bit slow recently. I'm starting to think it has something to do with Windows as I'm not seeing any problems when it actually has to perform.

For an example. When I select folders in Windows the selection box will lag if I drag it too fast:

    The system is as follows:
    CPU: i9-9900K
    GPU: RTX 2080 Super
    RAM: 64GB DDR4-3600 Cas16
    MOBO: ASRock Z390 Taichi Ultimate

    Winver: 21H2 19044.1288

Do you have any idea what it could be?

Have a look at your task manager Processes tab. Is there excessive resource usage?

I'm a slob when it comes to shutting down programs, så I have around 20GB RAM(the reason I have 64GB in the PC), which could be considered fair with the amount of stuff I have open.

Aside from that.. 3-8% CPU/GPU which again is more than fair considering what's actually open.

EDIT: oh and btw, no spikes in usage when it lags.

Try installing the newest version of GPU card driver.

Not behaviour you'd expect with your hardware.

Could it simply be you're using a wireless mouse and the batteries are dying?

Try a different/basic mouse for comparison.

I installed the newest update prior to making this thread.

The mouse is actually fine(the youtube clip is 30FPS), it's also a wired gaming mouse. It's the animation that's not following the mouse.

Even more weird... it randomly stopped doing it an hour ago. Been waiting for it to start again, but it hasn't yet.

The PC just had its first slowdowns in other programs.

Yesterday evening a game suddenly dipped to ~15fps for 30 secs.
Just deleting text from the search field in YouTube is sometimes choppy, meaning it freezes for half a second and then deletes a bunch of text.

I'm starting to think I have hardware that's on its last legs. Possibly GPU or MOBO.
