    just a general rant

Github is forcing 2fA now and you cannot continue without it. I don't require 2FA so i am effectively locked out.

    Thanks Microsoft.

Many programs are requiring it Apple is one that i know is using it, even my bank has used it you would expect that Microsoft would get in to it.

How is it being forced on you had it always been used or is this something new in a software upgrade?

Why do you think i have an issue? well its because of a few reasons

    - i turn my phone off unless i need to make calls because i don't really like my IMEI pining the cell tower and giving my location to it from this tiny little device we call the mobile phone.

    - i also feel like the world is mad with 2fa thinking it a good thing when its not. Authentication is also a tracking log system, there will be people on here that would think 2fa is good idea to use on this forum if it offered that sort of system.

Overall i do not require 2fa on something that is not crucial to have it. There has always been the option there for those that need it but now they are forcing it on everyone.

Minecraft has 2fa and authentication services now just to log in the game else you cannot play it its done though web services on the computer though.

Basically 2fa is two headed beast and it is also being used to track you and what you are doing .

The reason is to stop supply-chain attacks originating from Github accounts. Hackers take over dormant or unsecured accounts, and will silently replace the posted code with malware. It's just another step to slow them down.

yeah i understand its a double edge sword these days like everything. On one hand its about security but they are also using this data for personal means. Much of it is character profiling and tracking in nature.

    black hat and white hat.

You know nobody forces you to use tools that you believe are harvesting your data?

    Vote with your feet.

exactly why i opened the thread with "thanks for locking me out Microsoft".

I know full well that if i want to access that data then i need to conform to the policy.
