Just think of a scenario the legitimate ones say i have some MIT open source codebase well i do not care for 2fa do i? Now if it was closed source then yeah i think in that case those ppl want 2fa

outside of that hackers and malicious actors ruin the day again

When i say its forced then it means exactly that

Why do you think i have an issue? well its because of a few reasons

    - i turn my phone off unless i need to make calls because i don't really like my IMEI pining the cell tower and giving my location to it from this tiny little device we call the mobile phone.

    - i also feel like the world is mad with 2fa thinking it a good thing when its not. Authentication is also a tracking log system, there will be people on here that would think 2fa is good idea to use on this forum if it offered that sort of system.

Overall i do not require 2fa on something that is not crucial to have it. There has always been the option there for those that need it but now they are forcing it on everyone.

Minecraft has 2fa and authentication services now just to log in the game else you cannot play it its done though web services on the computer though.

Basically 2fa is two headed beast and it is also being used to track you and what you are doing .
You don't need to use your phone for 2FA on Github.
I use the Authenticator App on FireFox and Chrome browsers.
Works just fine with GitHub 2FA. No phone needed.

Yep i know my options. it was a rant i don't have to like the terms. This stuff is leading a horse to water at the same time.
Cryptographic authentication looks set to do just that in the future and this proving who you are the real you i mean. Does not matter if its on phone or in a web browser.

Atm its the assumed "you" you as the account holder with the 2fa device basically assumes its you because you hold the key. But i think in time we are heading towards proving that. With no choice or say in the matter.

currently its been optional well we are seeing more especially across Microsoft services that its now not optional.

Ai actor vs human one and biometeric 2fa yeah sounds fun.

Currently all the while the camera that is looking at you on any given device can tell if you are happy or sad. It multifaceted system one that is not going to be fun as we go along.

i like my anonymity online but we are losing those rights by the day. I don't even have a facebook so why do i want everything else to know about me online?

You have never been truly anonymous online. It is only an illusion you hold. Your IP address fully documents who and where you are when you visit any site. Get over it.

So I assume you are talking about logging into Github ( or whichever git ) and then doing your business? If your not happy then
    use another GIT entirely.

Why should you have to hide yourself on Github?

The problem with this reply is it is a rather pointless argument that has been dragging on for years and is not based on solid facts.

Worse, it is not even really related to the original rant.

So what is your real rant - another tedious privacy rant?

lol cynical again because you want to sound superior.

Not the same i am talking about the fact that eventually these things are leading to total transparency online. Atm this is not the case.

Yes your ISP knows the account holder but they do not know past that, for example i am in a house hold now and the bill is not in my name.

Cryptography will take us to that point and that is the whole reason. it has the potential to know who is using those systems that require it because crypto is a 100% verification signed communication and data.

this means the only way for it to be truly authentic is to tie real world credentials to it so like passport or birth certificate etc. When this day comes then its over, everything you do online is subject.

We are already seeing the precursors. Porn Passports are a thing and then child porn as in i mean kid safety online will be another Ai is one and entertainment, banking the list goes on. all they need to do is tie these together so real credentials to crypto. and at the end of the day its all in the name of security.

if it really does go this way then anything that uses authentication will know who you are the real you that is. currently this is not the case.

Because its multifaceted like mentioned. And yes camera tech now can tell emotions. We are actually heading to 4d at this very moment if you know.

people are studying this stuff and the signs are out there. Computer scientist and pen testers are telling us what is happening and to the potential to come,
The following is Google eccentric but overall they are dropping some gold. its not just one system is a combination of everything. if anyone wants to argue that fact then you have your head in the clouds.

the guest in the video worked on a backedend and dealt with personal recorded data he is long winded but further in the video he is dropping gold.

cyber security is white hat if you really understand that then that one term goes very far.
