I cannot capitalize file names in a new portable SSD device

I just got this Crucial X6 2Tb Portable SSD 2 days ago.
I already copy over a Tb worth of files, mostly JPGs, PNGs, and MP3s.
Other than the slow copying - 40Mb/s, about 12 hours - I have noticed that I cannot capitalize the file names of my MP3 files. I have tried other types of files, PDF, HTM, and Txt, the same result. I have tried this in Windows 10, Windows 11, and Linux (Pop!OS), to no avail. I also tried renamer utilities, including but not limited to, the one included in the MS PowerToys.
Only if I change a complete word it works.
    Any ideas?

    Thank you guys!

    exFAT

    Is that the reason?
Should I change it to NTFS?

Convert it to NTFS it will fix your problem and is a more robust file system.

    Code:
    CONVERT driveletter: /FS:NTFS

Are you saying that I can just enter this command line in the Command Prompt terminal window without having to erase everything first with a partition file manager like Gparted?

Looks like I'll have to format the drive first... The following information is from MS Copilot:

"No, you cannot use the `CONVERT` command to change the file system of an external drive from exFAT to NTFS without deleting its files first. The `CONVERT` command only works for FAT32 and FAT16 file systems¹. If you try to use it on an exFAT drive, you will get an error message saying: `CONVERT is not available for EXFAT drives`².

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions. "

There was more information explaining 3 choices to format the drive, but for some reason that information was triggering a security system in this website blocking me right away. But you already know how to format a drive in Windows anyway.

@MaloK, thank you for putting me in the right path

You'd have to make a backup image first, and place it on another drive...

Just was working on a 128GB USB Thumb drive on Win11, formatted as FAT32, and it also doesn't allow changing a lower case letter on a file to upper case. I do have files with both methods but most copied from the computer for portability. Using caps on the computer and my NAS drive does work.

Then it is file that is the problem, not the drive it's on
