CorePC version of Windows? When? Etc?

The last part of this article on the future of Windows discusses CorePC. EXCLUSIVE: Microsoft readies 'groundbreaking' AI-focused Windows release as new leadership takes the helm | Windows Central

Can I assume that this requires a fresh OS install? Ideally, data files and possibly more can be retained? Thoughts?

    Timeframe?

This is what most people are referring to as "Windows 12" although we do not yet know what the final name will be. As always, I would expect that you should be able to perform an upgrade installation. The current thinking is that it should be available in final release form in time for holiday shipping this year, but there are no guarantees until Microsoft makes an official announcement.

EDIT: Apologies, you were specifically asking about CORE PC. There is not a whole lot of info about that yet, but I have been hearing that it's a pretty drastic change and as a result would require a complete new installation from scratch. No timeline has been published as yet.
